Haafiza Sayed’s work is a synthesis of contemporary realism, landscape study and abstract. She draws inspiration from the interplay of colors and textures from the natural world. Her art is a result of conscious observations and careful interrogation of finding the hidden connotations behind what seems
apparent around us, creating a bridge between the real and the abstract world. She uses the subtlety of lines, textures and multiple layering techniques to deconstruct realistic representations until all traces of realism are discarded creating visual planes that give an illusion of depth and distance by capturing the light source between overlapping and intersecting lines and layers. Her art creates a sense of mystery and intrigue and leaves a lot unsaid and unrevealed between what is open to view.
Haafiza was born and raised in Mumbai, India and belongs to an illustrious family of artists and writers. She graduated with Honors with a degree in Fine Art from Sir J.J School of Art- Mumbai. She is also a trained Interior designer and has worked extensively in this field in the early days of her career. She has had a successful solo in April this year and has exhibited her work in more than 20 curated group shows in UAE and Qatar.
